IMG_0748.JPG

This sculpture intends to represent a collection of important natural disasters that have a large impact on the world.

Made entirely from recycled plastic, one element of this sculpture depicts the issue of plastic pollution and the permanent damage this material has on the planet. In addition, the intricate coral formations that have been spray painted white reference the effects of global warming on ocean acidification.

The issues that this sculpture addresses aims to visually present the harmful impact we have had on our environment and the incredible importance of coral reefs for life on this planet.

There are three stages to this sculpture that are all part of the final piece. The first is a vibrantly coloured structure, highlighting the beauty in this animals life. The second stage is a white washed bleaching process, demonstrating the absence of vitality and devistating impact of ocean acidification on corals, resulting in coral bleaching. The final stage, is the rebirth- and memorialism of vibrant and colourful keystone species, reminicing the life it once had.
