This piece was developed to represent the significant impact that coral reefs and coral bleaching has on all life.

The material used provides a structural quality that holds the organic shape of the structure while still enabling movement that is reminiscent of coral moving with the ocean current. 

 

The strategic intention to design the laser cut piece in monochromatic black and white represents the current environmental disaster known as coral bleaching due to ocean acidification. Lighting is then used to bring the dress back to life, highlighting its original beauty.
